That problem happens to me too. It doesn't work properly when mobile is used as hotspot. Had to log off and login to get it working. The devices just need to be on the same local network. If both devices are connected to the same hotspot, they're on the same local network. So it'll work.
Open Flatseal and find “KDE Connect”. Scroll down to the Filesystem section and either toggle “All user files” on or add /home/deck/Downloads to the “Other files” subheading. Flatseal UI. Optional If you currently have KDE Connect running, I found that I needed to fully quit the app and restart it for the changes to take effect.
Sometimes, KDE Connect will not detect a phone. You can restart the services by running killall kdeconnectd and then opening kdeconnect in system settings or running kdeconnect-cli --refresh followed by kdeconnect-cli -l .
Sorted by: 4. Open KDE Connect on the panel, and from there you will see a small folder icon on the right hand side , click on it, it will open you files on your phone. If you are running Dolphin file manager split the screen so that you have your android on one side and your computer files on the other side. Drag-drop, copy-paste and have fun.
I could connect to my VPN through my router and probably avoid this, but that doesn't work for me as I have devices that must connect outside of a VPN (devices for streaming stuff like Netflix which don't allow VPN's anymore). I feel somewhat like an inverse tangent function that's approaching an asymptote. Offline.
Then I installed KDE Neon on dual boot but my WIFI and Bluetooth is not working sometimes on KDE Neon. They both fail randomly whenever I start my laptop. Most of the time my WIFI is working but Bluetooth is totally out of service. Bluetooth is not even showing up in the setting. Everything is running fine in Windows 11.
Download Zorin Connect and you should be able to do this. Zorin Connect is a fork of the Kde connect app on the playstore. Unlike the Kde connect app, the Zorin connect hasn't been updated for a long while now so it still retains the ability to expose the whole Android file system.
KDE Connect is really cool, but I wish it had a Bluetooth backend or any other way to have a direct connection tot he computer, without a middle man like the router. Some of us have direct connection to the internet without any router (PPPoE).
Both the computer and android components are GPLv2 so an iPhone port would require a rewrite from scratch, I think, and be under a different license. If you got your facts first, you'd know that kdeconnect-ios is dual-licensed with MPL as an option. It was written from scratch and not ported. For me, KDE Connect for iOS would be such an amazing
